Orchestra Europa marks its 20th anniversary with a renewed focus on artistic excellence and education.
Founded by conductor Scott Ellaway, Orchestra Europa brings together professional musicians and emerging artists, placing emphasis on performance, development, and engagement.
Activity is centered on the Orchestra Europa Fellowship for Emerging Musicians, bringing together postgraduate musicians for performance and educational engagement within a single program. Fellows and associates contribute to this work as musicians and tutors, supporting a continuous and sustainable cycle of musical development.
Through a strategic partnership with OpusYou, this work extends into schools and educational settings. OpusYou enhances music education through a digital platform that delivers broadcasts, curriculum, and teacher development for schools of all ages, serving as the means through which orchestral work enters the classroom. Alongside this, Orchestra Europa will engage singers as Associate Fellows, supporting the inclusion of orchestral and sacred music repertoire within the classroom.
This approach reflects a core principle of the organization's work, that investment in artistic excellence should generate clear public benefit through education.
As Orchestra Europa reaches its twentieth year, the focus is not only on celebrating past work, but on building a structure that supports long term access to high quality music education.
